Presentation and lunch provided by Eating Recovery Center at Benjy’s on Washington

Presenter: Stephanie Setliff, M.D.

Dr. Setliff’s presentation will provide attendees with a better understanding of ACT and allow attendees to incorporate ACT into their clinical care of eating disorder patients and their families.

Dr. Stephanie Setliff is the Medical Director of the Eating Recovery Center of Dallas, where she and her team provide care for adults and adolescents in both Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program levels of care. She has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders for almost 20 years. After receiving her medical degree from Creighton University, Dr. Setliff completed her adult psychiatry residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center where she was named Outstanding Resident. She served as Chief Resident of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry while in her child fellowship. From 2000-November 2013, she was an Assistant Professor at UTSouthwestern and the Medical Director of the Center for Pediatric Eating Disorders at Children’s Medical Center. She was involved in collaborations with UTSouthwestern and Children’s to increase research on eating disorders at the University. She was a pivotal force behind the move of the Pediatric Eating Disorders Program to their new facility at Children’s Legacy Campus in November 2011. She left academics and did a short stint as a part-time private, outpatient psychiatrist in the Dallas area but returned to the treatment center world because of the exciting opportunity she has to work with internationally renown leaders in the eating disorders field.

Dr. Setliff speaks frequently at various eating disorder education, prevention, and treatment programs in an effort to increase awareness about the growing epidemic of eating disorders – an issue she feels so passionately about. She has been interviewed on many local and national news and media outlets, and has become a strong voice for eating disorder awareness to the North Texas community.

Additionally, Dr. Setliff has served on the Board of Directors of The Elisa Project for 10 years and was their 2012 Star of Hope recipient. She currently serves as the chair of The Elisa Project board. She serves on the local board of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, she is on the board of Dallas Child and Family Guidance, and, recently, joined the board of Embody Love. Her additional interests are in the areas of family systems, child advocacy and effective communication between children and adults.
