Hello,
I’m a therapist in the Central Texas Eating Disorder Specialists (CTEDS) group and I wanted to share two resources with you:
1) I run two virtual weekly psychotherapy groups for clients who are considering, or who have had, weight loss surgery (WLS). I am a HAES and weight-inclusive provider and my groups emphasize learning to have a nourishing relationship with one’s body regardless of size/shape, managing conflicting messages about health from providers who are pro- and anti- weight loss, and dealing with chronic health issues before and after surgery. My groups take place on Tuesdays from 5-6 pm CST and Thursdays from 5-6 CST and I currently have space for 2 clients in the Tuesday group and a waitlist for the Thursday group. More information is available on my website: triciamihallcsw.com/group.
2) This Friday, I’m presenting at the November CTEDS CEU on the topic of working with WLS clients. The presentation is virtual and will be from 12 pm -1:30 pm CST. I’m excited to share what I know about this population and I hope clinicians will leave with a better understanding of what compels clients choose surgery, the medical and psychological impacts of this type of surgery, and strategies for improving our care for these under-served clients. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have clients to refer, if you need consultation on this topic, or if you have questions about my work.
with care,
