    Hi HEDS,

Sending a reminder that the 2026 CTEDS Conference is less than a month away and you have 3 weeks left to grab your ticket!

As we get closer to May 1st, I wanted to share more about each of our speakers. And who better to start with, then two CTEDS members, Sara Weber and Liz Brown.

Sara Laird Weber, LPC-S, CEDS-C, is the Founder and Clinical Director of Discovery Counseling Austin, a group therapy practice with 35+ clinicians specializing in eating disorders and general mental health. With over 25 years of clinical experience, Sara brings both a clinician’s and a practice owner’s perspective to the complexities of insurance-based care. She is passionate about making quality eating disorder treatment accessible while building sustainable, values-driven practices.

Liz Brown, MS, RD, LD is a registered and licensed dietitian residing in Austin, TX. She started her career as a contract dietitian in behavioral health hospitals, before switching to full time eating disorder work at a treatment center. In 2020, Liz began working full time in her private practice specializing in eating disorders. Over the years, Liz has brought on additional dietitians as the practice grew, which led to a considerable amount of learning in order to bill insurance companies. Liz is passionate about access to care for people seeking treatment for eating disorders, and has joined different communities to further learn and decrease barriers to eating disorder treatment.

Sara and Liz will be presenting:

Billing without the Burnout: A Therapist & RD Guide to Insurance with Liz Brown, MS, RD, LD and Sara Weber, LPC-S, CEDS-C

Navigating insurance billing can feel overwhelming for both dietitians and therapists—often leading to frustration, confusion, and even burnout. This intermediate-level session offers a practical and empowering guide to understanding insurance systems while maintaining client-centered care. Attendees will gain foundational knowledge of insurance billing for each discipline. Beyond logistics, this session reframes insurance conversations as meaningful clinical opportunities. Special attention will be given to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) and its implications for eating disorder treatment coverage. Participants will leave equipped with tools to advocate for their clients, respond to common insurance challenges, and integrate insurance into compassionate, ethical care.
