Hello there to the HEDS community!

The DFW IAEDP chapter is excited to announce our 2025 Summer Workshop call for proposals in now open! We encourage both members and non-members of iaedp to submit proposals on research-backed topics related to the field of eating disorder treatment. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, May 24th. The workshop is Friday, August 22nd 9am-4pm with check in and onsite registration starting at 8am.

The DFW IAEDP Special Events Chairs and Exec board will meet the week of 5/26 to select presentations for the 2025 workshop. A blind review process and rubric are used for the proposal review process. Once presentations are selected, our Special Events co-chairs, Megan Brannan, PhD (she/her/hers) and Shelby Richard, LPC (she/her/hers), will contact the speakers directly via the email provided. We plan to inform speakers selected during the first week of June. Selected speakers will need to submit completed presentations and any supplemental handouts to the workshop chairs no later than 8/8 for review.

Speakers will be compensated $250 for their presentations. Please note that compensation is for each presentation and not per speaker.  Please reach out to brannanpsychology@gmail.com or therapy.shelby@gmail.com for questions.

We are looking for workshops that provide hands-on skills for clinicians specializing in eating disorders or mental health, or that explore theoretical concepts within various areas, such as diversity, evidence-based practices, and skill development. We request presentations lasting 75 minutes (including time for questions) that either focus on practical skills for clinicians or offer an in-depth analysis of theoretical concepts in a specific topic.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

    ·      Anti-carceral care

    ·      Co-occurring medical and mental health conditions

    ·      Cultural considerations and implications

    ·      Ethical considerations

    ·      Experts with lived experience

    ·      Harm reduction

    ·      Innovative practices

    ·      Marginalized communities and identities

    ·      Social media influences

    ·      Underserved populations (e.g., men, perimenopausal/postmenopausal women, veterans)

    ·      Weight loss surgery and medications

    ·      Weight stigma

To submit a proposal, please go to the application link below and complete the form:

We’d love to have HEDS community represented at the workshop! Thank you!
