    Hi all!

We are excited to announce to our fellow HEDS members that we have formed Empowered U Recovery, LLC to deliver workshops for parents who are interested in implementing Family Based Treatment (FBT) to support their children and adolescents with anorexia and bulimia.  The workshops are not meant to be a substitute for having a treatment team, but are designed to provide more support for parents to speed up their learning curve when confronted with these difficult illnesses.

FBT is recommended as the first line of treatment for children and adolescents with these illnesses by the Academy for Eating Disorders.  Researchers James Locke and Daniel LaGrange have recommended that many families increase their chance of success with this treatment if they have some intensive support in addition to the FBT protocol.

In order to expand availability of this treatment and support one another in delivering FBT, we have also formed a peer supervision group that meets monthly on Tuesdays at noon.  We have been running the group for a few months and still have some openings, so please let us know if you are interested.

Our next family workshop will start May 16. Please have any interested caregivers or parents register here:(Apply)

Our next PSG meeting will be Tuesday, May 3. If interested, you can registere here:

Visit our website at http://www.empoweredurecovery.com for further information!

    Look forward to our collaboration.

Terry Fassihi, Janice Poplack, Brandi Powell and Jill Sechi
