Thank you to those of you who attended our first Interdisciplinary Case Consult: Weight-Neutral Metabolic Care last month! We loved the thoughtful discussion and collaboration that came out of this group.
A few highlights from the conversation:
GLP-1s in context: Dr. Rebecca Berens shared an overview of how GLP-1 medications work, their benefits, and their metabolic effects.
Eating disorder considerations: Concerns were raised about appetite suppression, GI side effects, and the risks in pediatric and ED recovery populations.
Insurance & access: We discussed barriers to coverage, compounded medications, and cost challenges for patients.
Nuance & advocacy: Participants emphasized supporting patients with individualized care, advocating for the lowest effective dose, and navigating scope without carrying the full medical burden.
