Having a child, whether your first or one of many, can bring huge life changes. Sometimes women do not talk about how hard being a mother can be. We are led to believe that motherhood should be as easy as it appears for everyone else. Often we find out it is not; leaving us at a loss of what to do and feeling alone. Moms are often surrounded by well meaning advice and even competitiveness about what it means to be an effective parent.
In this therapy group, we will discuss self-care, learn relaxation and assertiveness skills, discuss strategies to get through the early years and balance multiple roles, and work on greater self-acceptance. Topics addressed will include self-image, sleep, isolation, family life, romantic life, friendships, both with other mothers and with friends without children, feelings of loneliness and inadequacy, as well as other topics the group feels are beneficial.
Group Details:
The group will meet on Mondays from 9:30-11am starting January 25th and is led by therapist, Alexandra Marshall.
