    Dear HEDS community,

I am forming a new group designed to provide support for individuals navigating their journey with GLP-1 medications. Recognizing the significant emotional and behavioral adjustments that often accompany these medications, I wish to create a safe and supportive space for individuals to connect and learn from one another.

My passion for this group stems from a unique blend of professional and personal interests. As a consultant in the pharmaceutical space, specifically within the GLP-1 category, I have firsthand knowledge of the science and practicalities of these medications. Coupled with my deep interest in mental health and the complex relationship individuals have with food, their bodies, and societal pressures, I felt compelled to create a supportive community.

As you know, GLP-1 medications can bring about significant physiological changes, impacting not only weight but also our relationship with food, emotional well-being, and overall lifestyle. This group addresses those crucial aspects, offering support for:

    ·       The emotional impact of changes in the relationship with food: Addressing the psychological adjustments that come with altered eating patterns.

    ·       Managing medication side effects: Sharing practical tips and strategies for navigating common side effects like nausea.

    ·       Navigating changes in eating patterns: Providing guidance for individuals experiencing disordered eating behaviors that can accompany GLP-1 medications.

    ·       What to expect when just beginning: Educating and supporting those new to GLP-1 medications.

    ·       A safe space to share: Fostering a community where triumphs and challenges are openly discussed, regardless of where someone is in their journey.

I have attached a flyer with a QR code that links to a sign-up form you can share if you believe this group would be a valuable resource for your clients currently on or considering GLP-1 medications.

Potential group members will be asked to meet individually with me or my supervisor before joining the group. By providing a supportive community, we aim to enhance their overall experience and improve their long-term success.

Please see the attached flyer for more detailed information about the group, including meeting times and contact details. I would be honored if you would consider referring your clients who might benefit from this support.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to discuss this further.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,

Guy Felder, Graduate Intern working under the supervision of Kelley Walters, LPC
