Eddins Counseling Group is excited to announce that we will be facilitating a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) group in the new year.

This group is designed to help people when other methods have stopped working. In fact, CBT-I has shown to be the most effective treatment for insomnia without the side effects from medication such as dependency or feelings of sedation.

CBT-I guides patients through a series of adjustments in sleep-related behaviors including sleep education on addressing factors that contribute to the continuance of insomnia such as:

    • The harmful thoughts that the client’s bed has become conditioned with wakefulness and worry, which leads to restless sleep.
    • Identifying and rejecting habits that were developed in an effort to improve sleep, but have stopped being effective.
    • Reducing sleep-related worry and other sources of intense stimulation.

This group will be a 7-week intensive group and will have a tentative start date of January 29, 2019, at 11:30 am. The group will meet one hour weekly. It will be located at 5225 Katy Freeway Suite 103, Houston, TX 77007.
